Granbury Texas Reservoir Decontamination and Fluid Purification

Granbury, Texas

Start: Apr 23, 2025

Completion: Apr 25, 2025

Overview

Frontline Global Services successfully executed a reservoir decontamination and existing fluid purification on the GE 7EA Turbine Generator Lubrication System at a power plant in Granbury, TX. The project involved cleaning and decontaminating the system, and filter filling with existing system operational oil. Slip-stream purification was performed to meet and maintain the target ISO Cleanliness Code of 16/14/11 or better. The project was completed safely, efficiently, and within the scheduled 1.5-day window.

Project Objectives

Safety and Efficiency

Efficiently minimize equipment downtime while ensuring all operations are conducted safely, protecting personnel and equipment.

Purify Existing System Fluids

Ensure that any remaining fluids meet OEM cleanliness specifications.

Cleanliness Standards

Achieve a final particle count of 16/14/11 or better, per industry standards (API 614), and ensure clean screens free of particulates.

Methodology

The project was carried out through a fully engineered turnkey approach. Pre-project planning included multiple site visits, coordination with HS&E personnel, system tagging, and project walkthroughs. On execution, reservoir decontamination, and a controlled refill were conducted. The system was brought to operating conditions and purified via slipstream filtration until ISO code 16/14/11 was stably achieved.

Process

  1. Reservoir Decontamination (Initial): Initial cleaning and flushing of the reservoir to remove major contaminants and construction debris.

  2. Reservoir Decontamination (Final): Secondary flushing and inspection to ensure the reservoir meets required cleanliness specifications.

  3. Fluid Purification Process: Circulate and filter existing or newly added fluids to ensure they meet ISO 16/14/11 or better.

  4. Final Fluid Fill: System re-inventoried with filtered existing operational oil meeting OEM standards.
