Beaumont Engineered Fluid Conversion

Overview

Frontline Global Services successfully completed an Engineered Fluid Conversion on an EHC Hydraulic Lubrication System located in Beaumont, TX. This turnkey project involved draining, decontaminating, and filling the hydraulic system with new Quintolubric fluid, achieving the required ISO cleanliness standard. Although facing operational delays, Frontline efficiently navigated through challenges to meet the customers expectations.

Project Objectives

Safety and Efficiency

Efficiently minimize equipment downtime while ensuring all operations are conducted safely, protecting personnel and equipment.

Decontaminate

Decontaminate the reservoir and system components.

New Fluids

Completely drain existing Fyrquel EHC fluid from the system. Fill the hydraulic system with new Quintolubric fluid.

Cleanliness Standards

Achieve a final particle count of 16/14/11 or better, per industry standards (API 614), and ensure clean screens free of particulates.

Methodology

Frontline executed a comprehensive turnkey service including fluid de-inventory, manual reservoir decontamination, fluid replenishment, and slip-stream purification to meet the ISO cleanliness specification. Pre-project planning included rigorous coordination with the customers operational and environmental personnel, ensuring HS&E compliance and minimal operational disruptions.

Process

  1. Reservoir Decontamination (Initial): Manual cleaning and thorough decontamination of the hydraulic reservoir were performed, removing contaminants and residual fluids, preparing the system for the introduction of new hydraulic fluid.

  2. Complete System Fluid De-Inventory: Existing Fyrquel EHC fluid was completely drained from the hydraulic system reservoir, piping, and all low points, ensuring full removal of the old fluid from the asset.

  3. New Fluid Filter Fill: The hydraulic system reservoir was replenished with approximately 75 USG of Quintolubric fluid, followed by slipstream purification to achieve and maintain an ISO cleanliness rating of 16/14/11 or better.

Project Summary
